Featuring a different layout, double card-capacity, but slightly downgraded leather quality for approximately the same price is the Bellroy.

The leather is top-grain, meaning the actual top layer has been sanded away, erasing the hide’s natural grain, markings, and variations. A stippled texture is then stamped into the leather to provide the appearance of full-grain leather.

The “corrected,” more uniform appearance of top-grain leather might be stylishly preferable to some users who do not necessarily value the natural imperfections of individual hides. It is a more polished type of leather for refined fashion tastes. The processing and the material removed is minimal, so top-grain leather is still very strong and durable.

A wallet made from top-grain leather is certainly worthy of being called a quality product, and to prove it, the Bellroy wallet is guaranteed by a 3-year warranty "when used under normal conditions and for the purpose intended". The unique feature of the Bellroy passport wallet is its horizontal layout. Most models opt for the vertical design, so you’ll have to decide which orientation would be more convenient for you. The interior includes a passport pocket on the right (large enough for an alternative notebook or smartphone), a center pen sleeve, 4 card pockets on the left, and 2 back cash pockets for bills, tickets, etc. With an adequate number of card pockets and 2 pockets to separate your larger and smaller bills or bills from receipts, this is a wallet you can use for traveling or everyday use.

The Bellroy includes an RFID blocking lining to prevent identity thieves from scanning your bank and credit card information through the wallet’s leather exterior. The added protection is a welcome feature when traveling through a busy airport or abroad. Bellroy includes RFID blocking in most of their products including their vertical bifold wallet.

We would like to see the Bellroy in full-grain leather, but otherwise, we recommend it as a durable, high-capacity, stylish product for any traveler or frequent note-taker.
